Research Data Officer, Band 3

This is an exciting opportunity to join and support the Multi-Speciality Research Team on a fixed term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of contract extension. We are looking for a self motivated, organised individual with excellent attention to detail. The post will include a range of administrative and data tasks that support the coordination of patient pathways and their participation in research studies. The Research Delivery Team are based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital and are a growing team of dedicated research staff within our Trust.
This role will be key in achieving the National Institute of Health Research targets for speed and quality of research information. The post holder will be based in the local research offices and will be required to work across sites in Gloucester and Cheltenham.
The post includes a range of administrative and data tasks that support the coordination of patient pathways. The post-holder will be proficient in the use of computers, including; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint, and will assist in the management of data collected from patients recruited into research studies. The post holder will also liaise with clinical trial units and research teams from outside the trust whilst supporting senior research staff with general administration duties such as arranging follow-up appointments, preparing and maintaining study paperwork.

The post-holder will be a member of the Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust Research Team. The Multi-Speciality Research Team (MSRT) provides quality care to participants in research studies and supports clinical teams in the practical processes of patient recruitment and research delivery. Working across different research studies offers variability as well as opportunities for learning and development.
The post holder will be line managed by a research nurse or coordinator and training will be given on all aspects of research related skills. Research in the Trust falls under the umbrella of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and is coordinated through the West of England Clinical Research Network. The network supports the conduct of well-designed studies and clinical trials, and ensures high quality research receives the support it needs
1. Coordinate the input and submission of baseline data collected by the research team from patients recruited into research studies. Liaising with clinical trial units and research teams outside of the trusts.
2. Work with senior research personnel to arrange follow-up appointments for patients in research studies, including ensuring that investigations are timed according to the study protocol.
3. Be part of the staff rota for administering and facilitating clinical trials follow up clinics. Be a direct contact for patients during these clinics and deal sensitively and confidentially with any patient enquiries.
4. Coordinate data collection, input and submission for research studies in the follow-up stage.
5. Required to input clerical and other data necessary for clinical trial purposes, checking data is accurately completed / recorded and ensure completion by other Trust staff, as required.
6. Assist Research Nurse(s)/Coordinator(s) with closedown procedures, following ICH GCP guidance and Trust SOPs
7. Assist research staff to answer data queries and ensure they are reported within set deadlines.
8. Ensure trial records are accurately maintained, including, but not limited to: records in nursing / medical notes, case report forms, trial site files.
9. Ensure timely delivery of samples to laboratories within GHNHSFT. These may be collected in specific research clinics or from routine outpatient clinics or surgical theatres.
10. Report any protocol violations or issues of concern relating to patients and/or staff
11. Set up and maintain spreadsheets that assist in the organisation and communication of clinical trial activity.
12. Maintain up to date activity records in research management systems (EDGE) and resolve discrepancies.
