**CATERING ASSISTANT**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job title**:Catering Assistant

**Hours**:7.30am - 2.30pm 35 hours per week term time plus 5 weeks

**Salary**:£10.42 per hour

**Reports to**:Catering Manager

**Prime function**:To assist in the preparation and service of food according to the agreed standards and to the client’s satisfaction, whilst maintaining the required standards of safety and hygiene

**Duties**:
1. To comply with all the appropriate legal, safety and hygiene requirements
2. To assist, as directed, with all aspects of preparation and presentation of food to the site standard
3. To assist at service times by serving the customers, as directed, whilst promoting a friendly atmosphere
4. To ensure all tasks on your daily work schedule are completed in full to the standard required expected by the Catering Manager
5. To receive any training as is necessary to maintain standards
6. To undertake all aspects in cleaning equipment - walls (up to 6 feet), floors, fixtures and fittings, cutlery, crockery, glassware, etc. according to the cleaning rota or as required and directed

7. To ensure tables and appointments are left as clean as is reasonably practicable and are adequately stocked during service times

8. To assist in loading the service counters, as and when directed, and to ensure sufficient supplies throughout the service period

9. To set the finest example in terms of appearance, punctuality and manner in order to comply with statutory and site regulations pertaining to personal cleanliness and hygiene

10. To ensure all areas under your control are clean and tidy at all times but especially at the end of shift

11. To ensure the security of all establishments stock, equipment and utensils at all times

12. To carry out any reasonable request by management

13. To carry out any pre-service hygiene and safety checks you may be directed to conduct, reporting to management any deviations from the site standard or statutory regulations

**Infrequent Duties**

1. To report immediately and where possible take action for any incident of accident, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food or other irregularities

2. To report and where possible take appropriate action about customer complaints or compliments (to reduce the former and increase the latter)

3. To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary
