You will be expected to meet the essential criteria in order to move to the shortlisting stage of the recruitment process. Post holders will be expected to keep themselves up to date with current knowledge and practice, to attend clinical meetings within the department and to participate in audit and in service training of other professionals. Clinical Fellows in the Emergency Department can expect: To build upon experience gained so far in your career To develop further expertise in the identification and management of the sick patient To gain experience and familiarity in identifying and managing a wide variety of medical conditions, including making appropriate decisions regarding the need for admission, the development of strategies which might provide an alternative to admission and identifying where early discharge would be safe and appropriate To develop skills of history taking, physical examination, appropriate investigation and rational prescribing To master a number of basic medical techniques To hone communication skills with patients, relatives and colleagues To develop skills in managing time and conflicting priorities.
