**I am currently recruiting for a Press and Communications Officer to work for my client, a forward thinking public sector organisation based in Sheffield.**

**This role is hybrid and 2 days per week is required in the office.**

You will be responsible for driving the organisations objectives by creative communication campaigns using a communication and marketing mix.

**Duties include**:

- Lead on proactive communication relating to key announcements, providing advice, guidance and information in relation to communications for your designated functional area.
- Support the development and delivery of the communications strategy
- Provide effective media relations, including proactive planning; creating effective news releases to create positive-sentiment media coverage, as well providing transparent, professional media responses Day to day responsibility for the planning, managementand development of a complex communication programme, making adjustments to working practices to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Proactively implement the communications plan, undertaking proactive communications campaigns involving the planning, delivery and / or commissioning of communication campaigns
- Develop digital content for external and internal purposes, aligned to our content and accessibility plans, including creating engaging social media content and updating the website and intranet. Work closely with colleagues in C&M to plan and schedulecontent for the corporate social media, ensuring regular content and consistent messaging.
- Ensure all communications activity is customer focused and linked to strategic priorities, with commercial acumen applied in terms of measuring results and return on investment.
- Support the dissemination of organisational communication including developing and updating web site content, internal communications, and leading social media presence for local, national and international markets.
- Support the procurement and commissioning of specialist service (where required), such as web design, photography, copywriting, in order to support the organisations projects.
- Proactively develop and maintain relationships with core internal clients, including through challenge, support and innovative problem solving.

**As the successful Press and Communications Officer you will ideally have the below skills/experience**:

- Degree or equivalent level qualification in a communications discipline such as journalism or media studies
- Knowledge of understanding important business-related issues across a range of policy areas and current affairs
- Understanding of corporate branding and marketing
- Knowledge of evaluation tools including Google Analytics and Hoot suite
- Excellent IT Skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Previous experience of working in a busy communication environment
- Previous experience of working with both print and broadcast media
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills
- High level of tact, diplomacy, and ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information
- Good organisational skills and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines

**An attractive hourly rate of £21.57 (PAYE) or £27.10 (Umbrella) is on offer and the hours of work are Monday to Friday with some flexibility.**

**The role is Hybrid working and includes 2 days from the office.
