Relief Support Worker
**Would you like a career that makes a difference? Could you support adults with a learning disability to live a life that makes sense to them?**
You'll join our friendly team of Support Workers at one of our small, homely, supported living services in Warrington, on a relief basis to support the people who live there to live their best lives.
**Intrigued to know more?**
Our priority is to ensure the people we support enjoy the lifestyles they want. You will be supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, people like Joe*. Here's what he had to say about the type of person he is looking for:
- "My name is Joe and I live with 4 other people,
I like my staff to be fun and creative thinking of fun and exciting activities for us to do.
I enjoy visiting the gym, going on bike rides, visiting the pub, going out for nice meals, bowling, cinema visits, walking, help going to do my personal shopping and visiting my workplace twice a week where I part take in gardening, woodwork, and cleaning and fixing bikes.
All of these are very important to me I like a routine and being busy, this helps me to lead a happy & fulfilled life.
I have a diagnosis of autism. I like to know what is happening and what activities I have planned for each day. I like my staff to be clear when communicating with me and to be patient, encouraging and reassuring".
Working with people like Joe can be a lot of fun and you don't need any experience as we will train you. Joanne took the chance to join MacIntyre and has never looked back:
**_‘’I joined Macintyre 3 years ago as a support practitioner, before this job I was a warehouse assistant and had no previous experience in the care sector. I get paid to have fun with the people I support, and I love my job. I wouldn’t want to do anything else now.’’_**
**So how does Relief hours work?**
It's a bit like a zero-hour contract but without the bad bits.
- You don't have to work when it's not convenient for you.
- Receive the same training towards professional qualifications as permanent staff.
- We offer these contracts not because it suits us but because it suits you.
- Job security and career development
The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave, training and other staff absences. As such, hours are non-specific, but your manager will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.
We normally plan the rotas one month in advance, but additional opportunities also come up due to unexpected staff absences.
- Names have been changed for confidentiality.
**"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."**
