Family Peer Supporter

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who is passionate about developing and delivering projects, including teaching parents in the community, and providing activities in collaboration with partners, to promote better health and wellbeing for babies, children, young people and families in our local communities.
An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the Family Hub development within Growing Healthy Wakefield 0-19 service to join the Infant & Perinatal Mental Health Team. This role is NHS Band 3, fixed term for 2 years.
The post holder will provide a high standard of information and support to children and their families in a range of settings (home, communities, Family Hubs etc.)
The post holder, following appropriate training will work with appropriate supervision to undertake a range of tasks. The main focus of the role is supporting Infant parent relationships, engagement with baby and supporting family health and wellbeing.
Wakefield is one of the 75 Local Authorities to receive extra funding to build on existing Family Centres to develop Family Hubs.
In Wakefield, Family Hubs will provide a system-wide model of providing high-quality, whole-family, joined up family support services from pregnancy, through the child’s early years and later childhood, and into early adulthood until they reach the age of 19.
The Family Peer Supporter role is an integral part of our 0-19 Wakefield Growing Healthy Service delivery.
