Taylors Optometrists are looking for a Clinical Assistant/receptionist to join our team

**The Role**

As a key member of the team you will be responsible for greeting patients and checking them in on our computer system. You will undertake pre-screening, including taking retinal photographs and OCT scans of patient’s eyes, measuring eye pressures and performing visual field assessments. Full training will be given and competency assessment will be undertaken.

You will be responsible for answering the phone, booking appointments and completing day to day paperwork. You will take payments for services and spectacles and record them in our computer system. You will work with other team members to assist patients who are choosing glasses.

You may be asked to undertake general financial and administration work, including cashing up and banking, reconciling payments. You will be involved in ordering of frames and lenses for the dispensing team.

The role is part time, 2-3 days per week. Hours are 9:00-5:00, and days are likely to include Tuesday and Friday and 9:00-1:00 Saturday on a rota basis (usually 1 in 3 Saturdays). There may be scope for hours to increase in the future.

Flexibility to cover other staff holiday or absence is welcomed.

**Key Skills**

Good communication skills are essential as you will be interacting with a broad range of people, potentially with complex communication and sensory needs. You should be friendly and treat people with respect. You should be enthusiastic and want to maintain our high levels of customer service.

A GCSE level of English and Mathematics are required.

You will need to be computer literate and comfortable using a variety of IT platforms.

You will need to prioritise your time and manage multiple tasks simultaneously during the day.

You must be able to keep good records of conversations and actions.

Experience in the optical sector is an advantage but not essential.

Remuneration dependent upon experience, starting in line with the national living wage: £10.42 per hour.
