This is an exciting opportunity to join the Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Service (CALDS) in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The team currently consists of Clinical Psychologists, LD Nurses and Graduate Mental Health Workers. We also work closely with our tertiary Children’s Intensive Support Service and Early Experience Team for under 5s.

We support families of children with a Learning Disability as well as professionals within the child’s wider system, including Social Workers, Education staff, respite providers and other health professionals. We primarily use a Positive Behaviour Support framework to inform our work.

With supervision, you will be responsible for carrying out behaviour assessments, developing PBS plans with family and the wider system, offering advice and support around behaviour and facilitating groups and workshops.

You will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior clinician, become involved in our peer supervision group, access CPD opportunities as they arise, attend fortnightly reflective practice and play an active role in team meetings.

There is 1 permanent full time position and 1 fixed term position until until March 2025 due to - meet the needs of the service.

The ability to drive/travel across the two counties is essential

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Under the supervision of senior clinicians within the service, the Graduate Mental Health Worker will:

- Carry out comprehensive behaviour assessments
- Co-ordinate and develop (co-produced) PBS plans
- Support families and professionals to implement intervention plans
- Facilitate PBS informed groups for parents
- Facilitate teaching workshops for parents and professionals
- Engage in audit and research opportunities as they arise across the service.
- Promote and support the development of PBS as the primary framework for children with an LD within the region
