Recoveries Officer

The Company

BSEL operates through an extensive network of independent retail money transfer agents, with over 250 based in the
UK. The company has an aggressive plan to expand across Europe over the next few years whilst maintaining its
commitment to increasing financial inclusion.

Main Purpose of Job

To closely monitor the aged debt position across the company’s UK agent networks, providing hands-on support and
guidance to ensure Relationship Managers maintain agent balances within agreed limits. Control daily account
positions of the agents with a remit to avoid late deposits of customer transaction payments, to help ensure the
smooth operation of the company’s retail business. Take ownership of escalation cases and engage with external
recovery vendors as necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

- Maintain agent aged debt position within agreed tolerances
- Control debt whilst understanding B2B relationships and trading accounts; keeping the balance right
- Support and guide Relationship Managers in recovering debts
- Identify & rectify adverse positions at the earliest opportunity
- Promote and, where necessary, train in the use of all recovery techniques & tools
- Develop the company’s recovery strategy
- Monitor charged-off debt balances
- Monitor payment plan accounts
- Produce accurate monthly reporting
- Produce accurate annual bad debt reporting
- Select and appoint external agencies for recovery
- Should be familiar with small claim court process
- Need to attend court on a business need basis

Skills and Qualifications:

- Fluent English and Bengali essential
- Experience of credit control, recoveries and/or collections essential
- Business to business relationship experience desirable
- Preferred at least 2+ years’ experience in relevant field
- Knowledge of full range of internal and external recovery techniques
- Determination and resilience
- MS Office - basic proficiency in Excel and Word
- Strong numeracy
- Results-orientated; proactive & positive approach
- Ability to prioritise own workload

**Salary**: £25,000 gross per annum
