**The role:
We are seeking talented individuals to join our award-winning Engineering Apprenticeship Programme, in Devizes.
- The Engineering Design and Draughtsperson apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, commencing September

2024.
- During the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to earn a salary and achieve recognised qualifications

whilst gaining practical hands-on experience.
- The apprenticeship includes manufacturing processes such as Milling, Turning and Hand Fitting/Bench skills

Work using a range of equipment including CNC and manual machines, which will be completed in the early
years before focusing on producing designs and drawings of mechanical components used in industrial
construction. It will also involve the production of reports, reading and understanding technical data and
drawings.
- The apprenticeship is a Design and Draughtsperson bias. At the end of your apprenticeship we expect you to

have the opportunity to join one of our technical teams producing 3D Models, CAD drawings and technical
documents used to produce machinery and tooling to manufacture our products.
- There may also be an opportunity to continue your study to HNC/HND level.

**Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend college as required to achieve the qualification(s) in selected apprenticeship.
- The Apprentice will train at Cross Manufacturing, supported by Wiltshire College, to achieve an industry

standard in the chosen apprenticeship whilst also gaining relevant work experience.
- Where appropriate we will involve the apprentice in different areas of the business; this will further enhance

skills, knowledge and understanding of our industry.

**Qualifications & Experience Required:
- An interest in your chosen apprenticeship and the manufacturing industry
- Strong desire to learn and develop, using open thinking and able to easily adapt to new ways of working
- Experience of activities relevant to chosen apprenticeship are advantageous, but not necessary. This may include:

- Hobbies or voluntary work
- Previous work experience

**APPRENTICESHIP VACANCY
**Training**

The Engineering Apprentice will spend 4 years training at Cross, supported by Wiltshire College to achieve an industry
standard of Level 3. The apprentice will spend approximately 2 years in our training school learning hand and machining
skills. During years 2 and 3 the apprentices will develop enhanced engineering technical knowledge as they engage in
Level 3 qualifications both at college and at work.
- Year 1 - Apprentices will attend college one day per week undertaking foundation training in Mechanical and

CAD skills. In addition, they will spend 4 days at work working towards level 2 machining and handfitting skills
- Year 2 - Machining and handskills will continue in the Training School at work whilst attending college 1 day

per week as they undertake year 1 of 2 of a BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. In addition,
Apprentices will start to build a portfolio of evidence as they commence the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering
Technical Support (technical Drawing pathway).
- Year 3 - Apprentices undertake year 2 of 2 of the BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering for 1

day per week at college whilst continuing their NVQ Diploma at work
- Year 3.5 - Apprentices will complete the Level 3 NVQ Diploma and start preparation for the final End Point

assessment.
