- Job description 1- We have an exciting opportunity in our Operations Department Asset Performance team for an Internal Drainage Board (IDB) focused technical advisor.
Delivering work in the Cambs and Bedford region, with offices in Kings Lynn, Ely, Brampton, and Bedford. This will be the pivotal role in building and maintaining relationships with local IDB’s, acting as the liaison between the EA and the IDB’s we work with. Internally, you will be working with Asset Performance, Local Delivery Leads, and Programme Support Officers.
Your main responsibilities in relation to precept funded work, will include;
- Leading as the liaison and single point of contact with IDB’s, to develop the IDB precept and GDC maintenance programme of delivery.
- Acting as the go-between between the IDB’s and the EA to maintain and improve working relationships.
- Take ownership of securing the correct funding through conversation with IDB’s and internal staff.
- Having oversight of, and report on, IDB precept funded intermittent maintenance work.
- Project manage, in part or in whole, precept funded intermittent maintenance projects.
- Take ownership of financial forecasting and reporting.
- Utilising communication skills to help maintain and expand on efficiencies in working practices with the IDB.
- You'll provide technical leadership to team members and colleagues, also feeding into team leadership where necessary.

- The team 1- As a technical advisor with Asset Performance, you will work closely with other Asset Performance Teams, and our Fisheries, Biodiversity and Geomorphology Teams, as well as our Field Operations, and Mechanical and Engineering Teams. You will also deal with our external contractors regularly. It is a close-knit group and everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into a friendly, enthusiastic team, and given all the training and support needed.
- Experience/skills required 1- Essential:

- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads in an ever-changing environment.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Able to work independently but with an ability to work in teams and bring teams together.
- A desire to learn and develop.
- Good stakeholder communication and engagement skills
- Driving licence due to the need to travel around Cambs and Bedford area
- An understanding of project management
- Previous experience of financial management and budgeting

It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

- Experience of technical leadership or advising in a technical/engineering capacity
- Previous programme management experience.
- Experience in flood risk management and/or asset management. However, you will be given all the training and support you need
