Shop Assistant

**RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a manor house in Lechlade-on-Thames, Gloucestershire who are seeking to recruit a part time Shop Assistant.
BACKGROUD**:
The Manor Open Season runs from the beginning of April until the end of October. The site - which includes the museum, garden, meadow, a tearoom, and shop barn - is overseen by core staff, supported by seasonal, casual staff and over 100 volunteers. The openseason programme includes public open days, group visit days, and school study day.
The Manor has recently undergone major restoration and improvement works, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other. The new season public opening days are Thursday, Friday & Saturday with Wednesday being our Coach Group visit days. As part ofthe works, we have built a new Learning Barn, schools and community groups will visit on Mondays and Tuesdays.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
TheManor requires an energetic, conscientious, person to join its staff team in the popular gift shop. Situated in the old granary barn, at the heart of the site, this attractive space is full of quality gifts, books and cards. The main elements of the jobare: assisting customers with enquiries; operating a till and packing goods; tidying and re-stocking/presenting displays; sorting stock and keeping stock rooms tidy.
Reporting to the shop manager, this is a seasonal post.
**THE ROLE**:

- Familiarising yourself with stock, the museum collection and the site
- Helping to set up the gift shop (interior and exterior displays) at the beginning of the day
- Witnessing cash float in and takings out of the till - at the beginning of the day, at the end of the day and during trading
- Responding to customer enquiries (usually in person in the shop but occasionally by telephone)
- Operating an electronic till to make sales using cash and card transactions
- Wrapping goods purchased by customers
- Re-stocking shop shelves and displays, as required
- Helping to keep the till area, shop, stock rooms and wash room clean and tidy
- Assisting with end-of-day clearing of exterior displays and closing of the shop
- Assisting with other duties in the shop or on site as may be reasonably requested by the shop manager, the property managers or their deputies
- Attending staff meetings/briefings, as may from time to time be required
- Attending training (internal/external) as may be identified to help fulfil the role
- Sharing a duty of care on site for all colleagues and visitors
