Job purpose - To provide a comprehensive service to all Orchard Care Homes within your specified region. Communicating and interacting with all employees and residents ensuring that you’re Orchard Care Homes are kept in good condition both inside and out.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out decoration programmes to the homes within the individual’s area, complying with Orchard Care Home’s policies and procedures manual.
Understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety and to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
Report any deficiencies that are out of the scope of this role to the Home Manager and Estates Team and follow these up.
Respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents’ needs and requirements into your work routine so that Orchard Care Home is a pleasant & safe place to both live and work.
Liaise with the Home Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order creating a friendly and has a ‘homely’ feel for the residents.
Help the Regional Maintenance Managers in your region manage and control the maintenance programme for your area.
Liaise with external contractors entering the home when carrying out authorised work to ensure that all requirements relating to Health & Safety and the Care Standards Act legislation are fully met.
Interact well with colleagues, contributing to team meetings and helping team members as appropriate. Ensure that Orchard Care Home is a friendly and supportive caring environment

**Budget responsibilities**: to help the Regional Maintenance Manager and control an identified maintenance budget for the home.
Job context
Although the actual job is fundamentally an individual role, you are an essential member of the Orchard Care Home team and will be interacting and communicating on a regular basis with all the colleagues, residents along with outside contractors.
Key challenges
Due to the regional nature of the role managing your own time and prioritising your workload, without being supervised, is essential.

Mandatory training is up to date
Compliance with legislation
One to one/appraisal meeting with Line Manager every 6 months
Results and feedback from Home inspections and audit reports (internal and external).
Person specification
Time served apprenticeship or suitable City and Guilds qualification (or equiv.)
Basic numeric and good record keeping skills.
Clean driving licence.
Flexibility to working hours which may include some unsociable hours as the role demands
Basic Health and Safety knowledge.
Good communication skills.
Approachable and friendly, able to work as part of a team.
Ability to travel and work away as required.
Ability to work unsupervised, able to plan and prioritise own workload.
Experience in decorating maintenance.
