Automation Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Automation Design Engineer within our clients Northumberland site.
**The Job you’ll do**
- Assume technical responsibility for the design of machinery where identified as the lead designer
- Ensure all equipment is designed to function correctly, be cost effective, easy to manufacture, easy to build and commission.
- Produce assembly drawings, detail drawings and parts lists that are clear and accurate and in line with the department standards.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain best value for money and ensure delivery in line with the project.
- Raise purchase requisitions and place purchase orders for manufacturing and for commercially available items.
- Ensure all machinery is supplied or modified in accordance with EC and UK regulations, harmonised standards, Good Automated Manufacturing Practice, guidance and client standards.
- Liaise with controls and commissioning engineers.
- Support the build and commissioning of new machinery and modified machinery where necessary.
- Ensure that all machinery supplied or modified is safe and all machinery supplied is energy efficient.
- Ensure that machinery supplied does not cause environmental issues and the mechanical design aspects of projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
- Carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.
**About You**
- They will demonstrate a positive, innovative and motivated approach to their work combined with an ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
- Applicants will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- This position will be on a full time, permanent basis. The hours of work are dayshift, 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4:00pm and Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm.
