**Overview**:
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client - a leading provider of wheelchair & community equipment services to the NHS and the Private Sector - to recruit a Clinician (Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist/Clinical Scientist) tojoin their team in Rainham.
You will have the opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership to the client’s team, deliver clinical operational performance, and simultaneously work with the operational management team to focus on continuous quality improvement. You will be supportinga clinical staff including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, rehabilitation engineers and rehabilitation engineering technicians. You will work closely with the Clinical Director and Clinical Leads/Managers from the othereight wheelchair services.

**Key Responsibilities**:
This role is available at different levels, depending on experience (Foundational, Intermediate and Advanced)
**All Levels**
- Hold, prioritise, plan and organise your own caseload of service users; your work is managed, rather than supervised, and results/outcomes are assessed at agreed intervals through clinical supervision; you will be guided by precedent and policy
- Provide high quality, service user focused assessment and prescription of manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, buggies, and seating
- Provide clinical advice to other members of the team
- Have competence within the specialism of wheelchair services, underpinned by background theoretical knowledge
- Supervise and allocate work to rehabilitation assistants and rehabilitation engineering technicians

**Intermediate**
- Provide advanced clinical advice to other members of the team; may act as lead for a specialism
- Have advanced competence within the specialism of wheelchair services, underpinned by developed theoretical knowledge and experience
- Supervise and allocate work to rehabilitation assistants, rehabilitation engineering technicians, and foundation level clinicians

**Advanced**
- Provide highly advanced clinical advice to other members of the team, act as lead for a specialism and contribute to the development of clinical services
- Possess highly developed expertise within the specialism of wheelchair services, underpinned by highly developed theoretical knowledge and experience
- Supervise and allocate work to rehabilitation assistants, rehabilitation engineering technicians, and foundation and intermediate level clinicians
- Plan training sessions for internal staff and external healthcare professionals; co-ordinate the multi-disciplinary team; undertake project management
- Assist the clinical lead, operational manager, and senior management team in developing the wheelchair service to continuously improve quality and efficiency; undertake specific service development activities where indicated
- Contribute to clinical governance activity and quality objectives, liaising with the clinical lead and senior management team as required
- Participate in and develop innovations in the areas of quality, clinical effectiveness, and risk management
- Propose, contribute to and implement policy and procedure reviews and changes, with impact beyond own role/area

**Essential Skills and Experience**:
**All Levels**
- BSc or diploma in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or engineering
- HCPC registration
- Experience managing own caseload
- Sound clinical reasoning skills
- An understanding of clinical governance
- Car driver with license valid for the UK
- Computer literate - ability to use Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel effectively

**Intermediate**
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
- Experience relevant to the wheelchair service, post education
- Knowledge of writing and handover of prescriptions for a wide range of wheelchairs and seating
- Experience supervising junior staff
- Knowledge of a range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions
- Knowledge of pressure ulcer avoidance and management

**Advanced**
- Post education training to M-level in managing service users with complex conditions, or the willingness to study at this level
- Knowledge of 24-hour postural management and its impact on wheelchair and seating provision
- Knowledge of relevant legislation in relation to current practice
