**Job summary**:
These are challenging but highly rewarding roles. They provide detailed advisory, support and delivery functions covering all departmental tax requirements including PAYE, IR35, and VAT related tax management, with responsibility for ensuring the department meets its tax obligations as well as driving continuous improvement.
This is a specialist role delivering taxation support and services, primarily to the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) but also, in part, across Government Departments as part of the government Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE).
The post holder will engage with and work in partnership with tax colleagues across Government departments and public bodies, and work collaboratively with a range of teams in HM Revenue and Customs.

**Hybrid Working**
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

**Job description**:
These roles will include but will not be restricted to:
- Actively contributing to the cross Government programme of work to make the best use of tax expertise across Government
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and lead on developing and implementing a tax strategy which enhances business awareness, knowledge and skills that build broad capability and knowledge.
- Providing high quality, timely advice, guidance and supporting on taxation related matters, to assist decision-making and operational effectiveness.
- Pro-actively undertake tax compliance reviews, actively seeking continuous improvement, engaging with key stakeholders and communicating across government
- Producing, clarifying and advising on tax policy and compliance, interpreting and preparing guidance and providing clear communications on technical issues which are often challenging and complex in nature
- Ensuring systems and controls are in place to maintain a strong level of taxation compliance and assurance with a lead role in the submission of accurate, complete and timely tax returns
- Undertaking technical project work in relation to change initiatives, projects and contracts so that any tax impact is clearly identified and known early
