Ipswich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a Psychologist with a passion for working with young people and their families? Do you believe in keeping young people and their families at the heart of everything you do? Would you like to work in a committed and psychologically-minded multidisciplinary team and service line? Would you like an opportunity for clinical leadership and service development?

We have close links with UEA and take Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement. There is an opportunity to work as a regional tutor at UEA as part of this role. Do let us know if this is something that you would be interested in.

Our team prides itself on highly skilled practitioners. We learn, develop and work together to ensure the young person and their family/carers receive a tailored package of care based on good assessment and formulation. Our team currently works with young people aged 0-16 years (changing to 0-18 years in the future). We are a secondary mental health service.

You will be a trained Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HCPC.

You will complement and enhance the existing psychological resources and skills within the team and work alongside and support MDT colleagues. The team works with young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and their families and carers, formulated with biopsychosocial models and appreciative of systems and context. As well as direct clinical work, you will contribute to team formulation, consultation, supervision, and skill sharing.

We are continually striving to improve practice in line with evidence base as well as using creative innovative ideas. The postholder will be expected to take a clinical leadership role within the team alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work closely with the Team Manager, making up a senior leadership team within the team. Leadership will include service and team development in line with internal and external transformation, as well as in response to your assessment of need for the team and service users. You will be supervised by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works across this team and others. You will also be supported through the Trust Management structures, multi-disciplinary colleagues, and other Principal Psychologists across the Care Group. We aim to provide helpful and reflective spaces to support you and your role, and endeavour to provide a learning environment to facilitate professional development.

NSFT is engaged in a process of significant and exciting change with a new Suffolk-wide care group for Children, Young People and Families, within which this team sits. Recent CQC inspection has shown improvements in the services which we plan to build on as we transform the Suffolk CFYP Services.

We have a new leadership structure and are engaged with internal and external transformation, and psychology is represented at the highest level within this. NSFT in collaboration with alliance partners are striving to deliver a truly biopsychosocial approach within the ‘Thrive’ framework. This will require significant system changes across Suffolk to move towards a whole system approach and to improve care for our young people and their experience of services.

We believe in our Trust values of together, positively and respectfully with regards to our service users, as well our colleagues

The Child and Family Team East is a core secondary community mental health team. The team works alongside other teams such as Connect (Looked after children), Wellbeing, Schools, ADHD, LD CAMHS, Eating Disorders, Youth and Crisis.

There is a lot of development within the service line, with a focus on outcome measures, people participation, improving assessment, formulation and care planning, building better links with voluntary agencies and other stakeholders, for example.

This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3000 for external staff only. This is a one off payment with half paid on appointment and half paid after the completion of a satisfactory probation period (6 months). The premium is taxable. Please note that should you leave employment, or choose to move to an alternative post within the Trust that does not attract this recruitment premium, you will be required to reimburse all or some it, as follows: 100% of the value of the premium in the first 12 months; 50% of the value of the premium in the period 12 months to 2 years following appointment.
