An exciting new post has arisen within the Maternity administration team, as an Inpatient Ward Clerk.

You will be part of the Maternity administrative team, providing effective and efficient clerical and reception support. You will be working closely with the midwives team and expected to be well organised. The post holder will work within the Maternity Labour Wards at St Mary's Hospital.

If you have the ability to multi-task in an administration role, with a flexible “can-do” attitude to work and can see yourself as part of a busy multidisciplinary team, then we would like to hear from you.

Due to the popularity of some positions, we reserve the right to close the vacancy early on receipt of sufficient applicants.
- Prioritise, plan and organise daily workload, ensuring that daily tasks and on-going workloads are completed within agreed and acceptable timescales.
- To answer telephone calls and deal with non-nursing/non-medical enquiries.
- Maintain good communication links with the team and other departments.
- Appropriate disposal and shredding of confidential papers.
- To record/update admission, discharge/transfer of patient data on Trust information systems in the appropriate time-frame under the direction of registered nurses, to include predicted dates of discharge
- Ensure the discharge summaries, outcome letters, diagnostic test reports and other relevant paperwork are received by relevant parties within the specified time limits, including external departments such as child health, GPs, community midwives and health visitors.
