We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated person with a keen eye for detail to join the well-established antenatal and newborn screen team, in the Women and Children’s Department in a full time Failsafe Officers position.

The successful applicant will have overall responsibility for providing and managing an effective and robust failsafe system for the administration of the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening service. They will work closely with the screening midwife and fetal medicine unit to facilitate failsafe mechanisms to identify and also prevent missed screening opportunities and maintain an audit trail for all of the programmes.

1. To develop and then maintain database of all patients who attend the services and all screening programmes accessed. To liaise as appropriately with external service providers. To provide data to the Screening Coordinators for the quarterly KPI’s and annual report as well as provide daily analysis of impended breaches on Failsafe Systems and to action these appropriately to meet service specifications.
2. To facilitate the Screening Coordinators to meet the targets as defined by the NHS screening programme publication and alert the Screening Coordinators of impending breeches with identified remedial actions required.
3. To liaise closely with the Antenatal and Newborn Local Screening Midwife, Fetal Service Midwife, Ultrasound department, Cestrian Ward, Antenatal Clinic, Community Midwives, Paediatricians and Newborn Hearing Screening Team to ensure the smooth running of the Service.
4. To provide administrative support to the Antenatal and Newborn Local Screening Midwife and Fetal Service Midwife
5. To enter all ANNB screening patients information, examinations and results and appointments accurately onto the ANNB screening Database.
6. To respond expediently to abnormal results following investigative treatments, highlighting them in person to the Antenatal and Newborn Local Screening Midwife, Fetal Service Midwife to avoid delay.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600
bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the
Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service
at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
