**The Opportunity**

The post holder will be a key member of ECA’s team of professional service leaders/ managers working in partnership contributing to delivering our strategic objectives in distinctive research, teaching and social/civic/public engagement.

Working in collaboration with the Directors of Research Excellence and Innovation, this is a fundamental leadership role for the School, using in-depth specialist experience in research management to drive the operational delivery and strategic development and managing significant change in the School’s broader RKEI activities so that ECA continues to develop and deliver an innovative and high-quality research and knowledge exchange portfolio.

**Your skills and attributes for success**
- Extensive knowledge of research, knowledge exchange and impact administration and funding policies in the HE context, and the ability to interpret and advise on complex regulations and funder requirements. Sound understanding of the financial dimensions of research and KEI support and administration work.
- Professionally qualified/relevant degree or equivalent, plus extensive experience in relevant roles including typically a minimum of 3 years’ operating at a managerial/expert level.
- Experience of policy development
- Leadership experience working with and influencing senior management and direct and indirect reports.
- Demonstrable experience of staff management and of using prioritisation, work allocation and delegation to empower and motivate staff, and to facilitate the implementation of lasting service improvements and coordination.
- Practical experience of managing projects, along with solid understanding of the key processes and methodologies for delivering successful projects of some complexity.
- Demonstrable ability to gather, analyse and present complex information in a straightforward way, and to use this to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications
