**About the role**:
Applications are open for an Associate Lecturer in Disability and Employment.

The successful applicant will work with our Professor of Special Education Needs and Disability to support project management and research focussed on a Supported Internship Pilot programme currently taking place in the University of Derby. This project will allow selected young people with disabilities more access to career opportunities and is an exciting new pilot at the University.

Research will focus on effective practices and impacts of interest to the disability sector, and is funded by the University Research and Knowledge Exchange Office (URKEO) and our Civic Department.

This fixed term post is 6 months from March to August 2024.

**Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.**

**Principal accountabilities**:

- Formal scheduled delivery of Teaching, Lectures or Workshops.
- Preparation of teaching materials required in the delivery of the above.
- Preparation of Reading Lists.
- Responsibility for keeping of University records, reports or returns as appropriate including marks and notes are submitted to the module leader for assessment boards.
- Contribution to assessment design as appropriate.
- Marking, moderation and electronic submission of marks as required.
- Supervision of Doctoral Research.
- Responsibility for tutorials.
- Student Support.
- Independent Studies supervision.
- Attendance at the following Boards/Meetings, where it is appropriate and where they can be arranged to fit in with other commitments, which include: Development / training meetings and events, Probation and Development Review, Programme Committees and Subject/Team Meetings, Any relevant meetings associated with internal and/or external periodic scrutiny such as QA, College Research Committee, College Research Ethics Committee and Assessment Board
- To comply with the requirements of Health & Safety, other relevant legislation and University documentation.

**Essential Criteria**:
**Qualifications**:

- A first degree in a discipline appropriate to the discipline being taught or equivalent professional experience.

**Experience**:

- Experience of working in an industry related to the discipline being taught/ project being delivered.
- Demonstrable knowledge of research in the field of supported employment or cognate area, and experience of project admin and operation.

**Skills, knowledge & abilities**:

- Ability to teach at the appropriate level.
- Ability to relate theory to practice.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good presentation skills.

**Desirable Criteria**:
**Qualifications**:

- Teaching qualification.

**Experience**:

- Experience of teaching students in an HE context including small group facilitation.
