**Starting Salary**:Level 8 Vacancy £27,344 progressing to £30,151. Level 9 Vacancy £30,151 progressing to £32,909 - pay increase pending
**Hours**: 37 per week

**Job Duties**:
We are looking for two individuals keen to take the next step in their career and join our land management advisory team. Our ambitious Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy includes a commitment to improve biodiversity across Hertfordshire by 20% by 2050, and this is your opportunity to play a vital role in making this target a reality.

The Countryside and Rights of Way Service works in partnership with private landowners, communities and other local authorities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife. Our land management team has a broad project portfolio encompassing woodland management, heathland restoration, chalk river restoration and developing old railway lines as non-motorised transport routes.

This role involves providing a professional advisory service to a range of land managers. Responsibilities include writing management plans and proposals for environmental improvements, securing external funds, producing specifications, procuring works and managing delivery through contractors, and working collaboratively with our Access and Communities teams.

You will be managing a diverse range of projects simultaneously: at different stages in the project lifecycle, in locations ranging from urban green spaces to important local wildlife sites, and on public and private land. Key challenges will include securing funding to deliver projects for biodiversity and effectively prioritising the project workload. You will become part of an experienced land management team who will support your development in the role.

Demonstrable track record in the delivery of environmental land management with broad competency across a range of disciplines including but not limited to: site assessment, management plan production, procurement, contract management, community and political engagement.

**Level 9**

Experienced in the delivery of environmental land management through leading multi-faceted projects with significant financial value and managing relationships with project partners and multiple stakeholders. Able to manage risk in project delivery and to provide technical support and guidance to senior officers and members.

At both levels your skills should include: excellent personal communication and consensus building to establish support for ideas; working independently and collaboratively with a range of colleagues, professionals, partners and members of the public; able to proactively manage a range of projects from start to finish, prioritising appropriately; a flexible and adaptable approach, problem solving and outcome oriented; a structured and well-organised approach to work planning and time management; competent management of allocated resources. A full current driving licence is essential, and you will be expected to work in rural locations with difficult terrain.
