Description

Fire Glass UK Ltd is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers and glaziers of fire and acoustic glass, and is looking to appoint a glass cutter at their Scotland branch, based in Edinburgh.

Working Hours: Set morning 6am to 2.30pm - Monday to Friday.

The job will include heavy lifting, manual handling, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Glass industry experience preferred.

**Responsibilities**:
**The successful applicant must posses the below skills and experience**:

- Cut glass of various thicknesses by hand or by operating glass production machinery, into specific sizes or shapes, working to a no-tolerance standard.
- Observe gauges, computer printouts and monitors to verify specified processing conditions and make adjustments as necessary.
- Set up and adjust automatic glass feeding, flowing and forming machines.
- Cut glass and mirrors to specified size and shape, using patterns, straightedge, tape measure, glass cutting tools.
- Break away excess glass by hand or with notched tool or glass pinchers.
- Examine and mark defective glass, to obtain best cut.
- Position pattern or drawing on glass, measure dimensions, and mark cutting lines, using glass tools.
- Smooth and polish rough edges using belt sander, straight-line polisher or polishing wheels.
- Operate furnace to produce toughened glass.
- Sandblast glass surface within guidelines, using sandblasting tools.
- Loading and unloading stillage for dispatch.
- Ensure Health and safety standards are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain stock levels keeping a note of batch numbers for glass cut and off cuts produced.
