Experienced Customs Adviser

**Role Purpose**:Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade. Support with the technical aspects of customs operations to deliver high-quality, compliant services meeting client expectations. Contribute to growth of business and support of clients.
**Key Areas of Responsibility**:
- Serve as the technical liaison for clients, building strong partnerships through regular communication and client visits.
- Stay updated on customs regulations and ensure compliance, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Establish effective communication channels with internal departments and stakeholders, sharing expertise with clients and identifying training needs.
- Support with the streamlining of customs operations to reduce lead times and costs while maintaining compliance.
- Identify opportunities for business growth with existing and prospective clients, working closely with the Operations Manager.
- Attend relevant training to enhance skills and demonstrate flexibility to meet operational and client needs.
- Mentoring and developing customs operation team with provision of technical knowledge.
**Deliverables**:
- Provision of technical specifications and clear procedures to support the development of client standard operating procedures, work scopes and client milestones.
- Assessing and managing potential risks, oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate and complete customs documentation, ensuring proper record-keeping to meet regulatory requirements
- Completion of legislative reporting as and when required on behalf of clients.
- Conduct client reviews prior to customs audits to reduce their risk to exposure.
- Quarterly feedback to Operations Manager for client reviews to ensure alignment with contracts and team competencies.
**Essential skills and qualifications**
- Possess a high level of general education of at least higher grade in Mathematics and English.
- A full understanding and experience of supply chain procedures.
- A strong level of Customs education or equivalent experience with an excellent knowledge of current customs legislation with the ability to advise on complex matters.
- Good commercial and risk awareness.
- Computer literate with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- The ability to work in a team environment and unsupervised.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload to meet demands.
- Accuracy, with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Motivated with the ability to exercise initiative to problem solve.
- Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive company information.
- Full UK Driving License essential.
**Desirable skills and qualifications**
- A degree in a legal or business-related discipline.
- Experience of working in a client focused environment.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry as well as experience of working with other sectors.
- Experience of delivering training and developing training materials for a variety of skills levels.
