Support Worker Supported Living

We have an opportunity for passionate and caring people to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Abergavenny.
We have a 16-hour part time position available. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep in shifts as part of a rolling rota with every other weekend off. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-10.30pm, with sleeps ins as extra. A typical shift would be 08:00am start, followed by a sleep in and finishing at 08:00am the following day, or a 15:00pm start, followed by a sleep in and finishing at 15:00pm the following day. Not all shifts would be 24 hours, however there is an expectation to be available to work this type of pattern.

**What is the role?**
This service is the home of 3 males with learning disabilities. You will be working with these incredible individuals to support them with maintaining their day-to-day independence, enhancing their various skills, supporting with daily activities as well as providing emotional support.

You will be expected to support with daily aspects of living, including:
- Medication administration.
- Cooking skills and other household tasks.
- Some personal care needs.
- Accessing the community and supporting to local groups and appointments.
- Supporting with individuals’ hobbies and activities such as walking/hiking.
- Being a team player and having good communication skills.
- Completing relevant paperwork to a high standard.
- Supporting individuals to budget finances.
- Providing companionship to the people we support through talking about their interests and wellbeing.
- Having fun by encouraging the supported individuals to take part in activities that enhance their life skills and promote independence.
- Encouraging and supporting with cleaning and administrative duties.
- Being able to bring fresh ideas to the team and implement different ways of working.
- Supporting Individuals with their individual needs
**What skills and experience do you need?**
A background of working with people who have a Learning disability, physical disability or mental ill health is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. More important are:
- A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible.
- An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives.
- A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player.

**What are the pay and benefits?**
- An hourly rate of £12.15 making the annual salary £23,376 (FTE)
