The post holder will lead a team of professionals to deliver a specialist service to childrena na dyoung people presenting with disordered eating symptoms. In addition to leading the service, the post holder will function as an autonomous clinical practitioner, providing comprehensive eatling disorder assessments and specialised treatment plans.

The post holder will provide expert advice and specialist nursing knowledge to children and families.

The post holder will be expected to provide expert clinical advice, supervision and training to other professionals within health, education, voluntary sector and Local Authority. They would also be expected to liaise with these services in relation to open cases.

The post holder would be expect to ensure management duties such as quality assurrance, budget management, line management and health roster are undertaken.

The post holder will demonstrate the Health Board’s values and ensure that others demonstrate the same values.

Provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance (in line with NMC standards), expert clinical advice/intervention on specialist complex issues within own field and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules and Health Board policies relating to evidence based practice.

Responsible for the efficient management of the allocated budget, effectively deploying the nursing team and utilising the allocated resources and raising any financial expenditure concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Work and communicate effectively as a member of the senior clinical and nursing leadership team for the directorate/service, collaborating with other Team Leaders, and Lead Nurse, including deputising for the Lead Nurse where required.

Create and promote a learning culture within the clinical area to support the professional growth and development of all nursing staff, students and (as appropriate) members of the multi-disciplinary team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Develop the service in line with Local and National Directives ensuring service delivery follows agreed pathways and evidence based practice.

Lead the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, protocols relevant to the Eating Disorder service in partnership with colleagues.

Be responsible for developing and implementing packages of care in partnership with parents/carers, co-therapists and other professionals, recognising the needs of the individual, providing support, information, education and counselling to them and their families. This would
also include risk assessments of cases to be managed within the community setting.

Be responsible for assessing children who are referred to the service, using assessment tools provided and adhering to local guidelines, using empathy and reassurance when communicating very sensitive information.

Be responsible for implementing a range of specialist evidence based interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups within and across teams.

Work autonomously to plan own work schedule plans, in view of daily and weekly management responsibilities along with leadership and supervisory aspects of the role.

Supervise the professional and clinical work of nursing staff within the CAMHS nursing team allocating work effectively, considering skill and competency of staff and patient requirement and delegate the delivery of care where appropriate, in line with NHS Wales’ delegation framework ensuring staff are using evidence based practice.

Support staff in upholding the standards in the NMC Code (2018) as part of providing the quality and safety of care expected by service users and regulators.
