The Regional Deaf CAMHS team is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced clinical psychologist, to deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for deaf children and young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties, and their families.

This post could be suitable for newly qualified clinical psychologists. The post is up to full time (37.5 hrs per week). At present the post is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The Regional Deaf CAMHS team provides a service for young people with complex needs, which often includes a combination of mental health, neurodevelopmental and Deaf needs. The team has links with the National Deaf Team to support supervision and ensure alignment with national thinking, best practice and training, to drive ongoing development.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the team, to ensure effective implementation of best practice that places the young persons at the centre of all we do. No experience of British Sign Language is required, but a commitment to learning is encouraged.

The team is based in Foundation House in Taunton and covers the whole of the South West region. Many of our team are working from home for the majority of the time, however travel to schools, colleges, and other bases across the South West is needed on a regular basis.

The post holder will work as part of a team, with the following responsibilities:

- To provide a clinical psychology/specialist practitioner service to the National Mental Health Service for deaf children and young people, across the South West.
- To develop and undertake psychological assessments, formulations and interventions with this client group.
- To care coordinate packages of care.
- To provide advice to psychologists and other professionals working with Deaf children in mainstream settings.
- To liaise closely with psychologists and other professionals working in specialist services for Deaf children.
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
- To participate in service development projects as identified by the team.
- To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.
- Providing clinical supervision for staff, trainees and volunteers employed by or attached to the service.
- The post holder with receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance to Trust policy and to Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British Psychological Society or appropriate designated Professional Body.

- To provide comprehensive psychological/specialist assessment based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex psychological data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests. family members and other involved in the client’s care
