**Early Help Worker, Children’s Services - Wokingham**

**6-month Contract**

**37 HPW (less hours may be negotiated)**

**£14.17ph (PAYE)**

**Key requirements** - experience of working with the whole family, in particular teenagers (self-harm, school refusal, improving parenting skills etc).

**Driving Licence and access to a car is essential** - this role will involve travelling in and around the Wokingham.

**Enhanced DBS - **children’s category and registered on the update service (we can support with this).

**Summary of role (not exhaustive)**
- To provide early help support to young people aged 6- 18 and their families to reduce risk and harm and prevent escalation to Social Care.
- To co-ordinate, deliver and assist in the management of appropriate early intervention services and early help support for children, young people, parents and carers.
- To assess problems, develop measurable goals and help the families acquire the skills necessary to achieve them.
- Multi-agency working to support parental and family conflict, mental health, financial stress, substance misuse and domestic abuse as well as issues relating to children including poor school attendance and low self-esteem.

***Essential Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Qualification Level**
- L3 or above relevant professional qualification (Social Work, Early Years, Youth & Community, Health)
- Minimum two years experience in either a paid or voluntary capacity working with children and or adults to reduce risks associated with poor outcomes for children.
- Experience in planning activities and programmes for children and parents.
- Experience of holding a statutory and non-statutory caseload.
- Knowledge and understanding of inter-agency and partnership work.
- Knowledge and experience of working within Signs of Safety, Family Mediation and Restorative processes.
- Ability to use and manage IT packages eg. Microsoft Word, Outlook etc. including internal recording systems as well as excellent time management, organizational, verbal and written skills.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain professional boundaries.
