**Job Role**:Forest School Lead**

**Pay band**:£24k-£29k**

**Line Manager: Outdoor Learning Lead**

**Hours: Monday - Thursday 08:30 - 16:00 Friday 08:30 - 15:00**

**Term time: 39 weeks**
- To deliver an engaging, outdoor programme (Forest School) which is inclusive, fun, safe and encouraging.
- To further the profile of the Forest School programme within Poles APart.
- To develop forest school environments.
- To lead sessions and direct staff.
- To support students in gaining relevant certificates and qualifications.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- To plan, deliver and direct staff through a range of sessions, which can include;
- outdoor activities;
- classroom (indoor/outdoor) lessons;
- sessions and field studies trips linked to the topic and workbooks;
- making decisions in outdoor environments to promote safety and engagement;
- creating short and long term curriculum plans;
- working with the Educational Lead to plan qualification pathways;
- assisting Key Workers deliver and support learning tasks;
- writing and support key workers to write quality Learning Journal entries with focused objectives;
- maintaining and monitoring the safe use of equipment;
- adapting sessions and lessons to suit the learners and groups needs. Being flexible and adaptable is important
- To work alongside lead staff on timetabling, staffing and logistics.
- To prepare food and/or cook for students during the day.
- To direct Key Workers during activities and sessions.
- To help create displays when required.
- To attend assigned meetings and training opportunities.
- To complete qualifications that will support your role.
- To write termly reports for students you work with.
- To remain flexible in your attitude to the nature of working in an AP.
- To create and adjust Risk Assessments.
- To make sure that key students are supported
- To work alongside the DSL to maintain high safeguarding standards

**Qualifications required**:

- Forest School Leader Level 3

**Desirable qualifications**:

- Outdoor First Aid
- Full Driving License
- L3/L5 Teaching and Learning

**Training required**:

- GDPR
- Prevent
- Allergen Awareness
- L3 Safeguarding

Pay: £24,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
