London, United Kingdom Royal Academy of Engineering Full time

**Posted**:29/03/2023 09:44**Start Date**:Not Available**Salary**:£65,315**Location**:London**Level**:Senior Managerial**Deadline**:19/04/2023 23:59**Hours**:36.25**Benefits**:Excellent**Job Type**:PermanentWe have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to drive fundraising strategy and lead our philanthropic giving programmes, at an expanding and agile organisation. This role could be career defining for an experienced fundraiser to develop and deliver strategies that grow our donor numbers and significantly increase income for the Academy. If you have a passion for making a difference to people’s lives, in a complex and changing world, this role could be for you.

**The role**

We are a small team of fundraisers (who are not engineers by background), but we understand that engineering, and engineers, are vital to solving the most pressing challenges of our time. By joining our team, you will be making a meaningful difference in helping everyone - from school children to university students and apprentices, to researchers at the cutting edge of new ideas, to entrepreneurs running start-ups, to policy makers, to senior engineers across all industries - to develop solutions to global problems such as the climate crisis and public health resilience, by creating a more diverse and inclusive engineering workforce.

We raise money for much needed support towards STEM teaching and learning, student bursaries, helping engineering innovators in their early stages to become successful technology entrepreneurs, convening global engineering expertise to address some of the world’s most pressing shared challenges and encouraging greater diversity and inclusion in UK engineering.

The Head of Fundraising will:

- Lead our fundraising strategy, driving philanthropic giving with a focus on significant gifts.
- Confidently and diplomatically deal with complex issues, to manage and pre-empt conflicts of interest.
- Work closely with our community of senior industry leaders and academics to build strong networks.
- Be creative, enthusiastic, organised, and a skilled verbal and written communicator.
- Act as an ambassador by attending events and making presentations to public and private audiences.
- Be a natural problem-solver, team-player, results-oriented, supportive of colleagues.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

**Who are we?**

The Royal Academy of Engineering is harnessing the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone. In collaboration with our Fellows and partners, we’re growing talent and developing skills for the future, driving innovation, and building global partnerships, and influencing policy and engaging the public. Together we’re working to tackle the greatest challenges of our age.

**Why work for the Royal Academy of Engineering?**

We’re looking for people who are driven to make the world a better place. If you’re passionate about what you do and want to work collaboratively with talented colleagues to make change happen now and for future generations, we want you to get in touch.

This is the perfect time to join us. We have a dynamic, visionary CEO, a strong leadership team and an ambitious and exciting strategy. The value we bring as experts in our field and change agents is highly recognised and makes the Academy a motivating place to be. Our work today builds on a long, proud history with a focused and ambitious future which we’d love you to be part of.
