Wimbledon Foodbank is a charity supporting local residents facing financial hardship with emergency food across the London Borough of Merton. We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ emergency food parcels and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

**Role description**:
Office based role

Wednesday 10am-2pm

We are seeking someone who enjoys listening and communicating with people. Passionate and caring with a drive to improve emotional wellbeing and support for our clients.

Join our team for just 4 hours per week. You will volunteer in our office, based at Wimbledon Foodbank, Elim Pentecostal Church, 76 Kingston Road, Wimbledon, SW19 1LA. Your duties will include handling outreach telephone enquiries, providing information and signposting clients to other external agencies so that they can access the services they require. We’d also ask you to occasionally support our small team of staff with their admin tasks.

**Summary of duties**:

- Providing information about Foodbank services and signposting clients to other relevant local agencies. For example signposting a client for debt advice or mental health services.
- Logging all telephone enquiries on to the Trussell Trust database
- Arranging and providing call backs

**Skills/Attributes Required**:

- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Good telephone manner
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Good time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise work
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Strong administrative skills including IT skills and data entry - training will be provided.
- Consistently friendly and professional approach
- Commitment to providing the best possible outcome for the person’s needs promptly
- An understanding of the need for confidentiality
- A non-judgemental approach
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work with minimum supervision
