We're looking for a Senior Underwriter to join the MGA team in London.

**Here's what you'll be doing**:

- managing a portfolio of risks at a macro level for a range of commercial products for our small and medium-sized business & landlord audience. This Includes tradespeople and construction, retail, office and professional indemnity
- working with others to manage our pricing models, underwriting rules, policy wordings and endorsements
- understanding and monitoring our account make up and underwriting performance. Then use this information to develop and drive frequent pricing and product actions.
- regular market research to understand best practice and development of world-class underwriting
- owning and managing both internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and building good relationships with key contacts
- support our New Markets team to develop our distribution capability while generating a profitable book of business
- end-to-end exposure to the full insurance business

**We're looking for someone who is**:

- from an underwriting background with 5+ years of commercial SME underwriting-related experience, including experience in managing and controlling the mechanics of a portfolio of business, ideally in an online underwriting environment.
- an enthusiastic person that has great interpersonal skills and can build relationships with our insurer partners
- able to demonstrate ownership and can give projects a sense of momentum
- able to articulate important measures of success. This includes negotiation of commercials, process and performance management
- likely to have completed or is near completion of an ACII qualification
- a natural innovator that can bring ideas to drive growth and improve efficiency
- able to bring a logical and data-driven approach to technical underwriting
- experienced in training junior colleagues
- a strong communicator that can simplify complex work for others, whilst keeping a close eye on the detail and working to high standards.

- you'll understand and drive improved portfolio performance, supporting the performance of the book
- you’ll be comfortable making judgements - you’ll have underwriting authority
- you'll own and deliver large internal projects with a strong will to make things happen and get stuff done
- you'll drive our high-performing team culture while coaching and training junior members
- you'll make sure all our regulatory requirements are met, making sure our products provide good value to our customers
- you'll support our audit and peer review process to make sure our high standards are maintained
- you'll contribute to the case referral process from our contact centre technical team, making sure it’s well managed
- you'll own and manage internal and external relationships with key stakeholders while building strong and credible relationships with key contacts
