**Job description**

An elderly gentleman living at home in Yetholm is looking for a companion. The hours are to

support the gentleman, so that his caring wife can leave the house knowing he is safe. The

hours could be up to ten hours per week but this is to be mutually agreed between employee

and employer. Hours will be in blocks. Days and times are to be agreed but ideally the

employer would like hours covered a couple of Saturdays out the month.

**Terms**:

- Hours per week: At least 6 hours
- Hours of work: Flexible to be discussed with the employer.
- £11.50 per hour.
- Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata.
- Probationary period of 3 months

**Main tasks and responsibilities**
- To support client to ensure their safety and well-being.
- To support with personal care needs including continence care as required
- To support with general care needs including meal prep, eating and drinking
- To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
- To develop a positive relationship with client and his family
- To interact with the client, offer companionship and keep them entertained with

activities they enjoy in his home.

**Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of anxiety would be desirable but not essential.
- First Aid training: can be provided if necessary.
