This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new service which we are delivering across Bolton: The Mental Health Support Team (MHST).

We are looking for skilled practitioners, with mental health experience, who can provide low intensity evidenced based CBT interventions, manage risk and are passionate about young person-centred practice.

As part of a new team, you will be empowered to shape and build the service with further education settings in Bolton. You will help build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and wider network.

The Mental Health Practitioner will be an integral part of the MHST in Bolton. You will use your clinical skills to listen to the needs of the child, young person and family to provide meaningful evidenced based interventions. You will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals in the life of the child/young person. You will work closely with education professionals to foster a whole school/college approach to mental well-being.

The MHST Mental Health Practitioner will play a key role in
- Forming strong working relations with a variety of stakeholders
- Providing consultations to education colleagues and support education settings to embed a whole school approach to wellbeing
- Developing and delivering evidence-based individual and group time limited interventions to young people within education settings
- Evidencing the outcomes of the MHST service
- Providing clinical supervision to trainee Education Mental Health practitioners

**Qualifications**:
Essential Criteria
- Core profession with valid registration of professional body e.g. RMN, Social Work or equivalent post graduate accreditable qualification CBT, EMHP, CYWP.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in the field of child and adolescent mental health

Experience

Essential Criteria
- Experience of assessment and delivering evidence based mental health interventions including low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy interventions.
- Experience of Multi-disciplinary working within a CAMHS setting.
- Experience and knowledge of implementing safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
- Experience in utilising and interpreting routine outcome measures in practice.
- Experience of peer supervision, supervising colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team and consultation in other agency settings.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria
- Understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and safety planning.
- Knowledge of legislation related to children and/or adolescent’s mental health and social care e.g. Mental Health Act, Child Protection and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children etc.
- Understanding and knowledge of psychological models of brief intervention.

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
- Ability to utilise CYP assessment skills and routine outcome measures effectively including suitability and risk assessments.
- Effective communication skills in respond to a variety of needs and situation.
- Good organisational/time management skills with the ability to manage own workload, organise own time and diary, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously in the community and use own initiative and make appropriate decisions.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to the overall vision of the development of the professional group of mental health practitioners in education settings.
