An exciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant practitioner to join the very busy and fast paced Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate in Cardiff and Vale.

We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and highly caring individuals who meet the following criteria:
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

GCSE maths and English Grade C or above or equivalent essential skills qualification

Level 5 British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate

Significant previous experience in hospital or health care environment

To work in any area of the UHB as required

The successful applicants will be required to provide exceptional care to patients and work closely with our registered nurses and multi-disciplinary teams. It is expected that you will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of service users of different age groups, and have good self-management skills. You need to have a flexible approach and have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

As an Assistant Practitioner, the post holder is expected to independently manage their own work and case load, undertaking tasks delegated by a registered practitioner with appropriate supervision in place.

Be responsible for some elements of patient assessment,, implementing programmes of care, and modifying programmes of care as delegated by a registered practitioner. The supervising registrant will undertake elements of care that sits outside of the band 4 scope of practice.

Report regularly to the registered practitioner, recognising own limitations and seeking advice if they are unsure.

**Work in support of the multi-disciplinary team**: registered nurses, doctors and allied health professionals to provide a seamless service to patients with proximal supervision from a registered nurse/practitioner.

Delegate work to other unregistered staff within agreed protocols, and may supervise, teach and assess other un-registered staff, including students.
