This role will involve working from home combined with time in our Leeds office two days per week.

**About the role**

This is an excellent position for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Commercial Insurance team in Leeds as a Trainee Underwriter. You will be working with a team of Insurance professionals who are recognised as experts within their field.

Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 depending on experience.

The quality of our Underwriters is central to Allianz’s success, as a key member of the team you will be able to learn the fundamentals of underwriting whilst developing your trading and soft skills. You’ll be given opportunities to seek new business, develop existing relationships and renew existing cases. No risk is the same, so you’ll need to use your strong analytical and communication skills, as well as technical knowledge to influence our brokers and develop strong trading relationships.

This opportunity is ideal for either a new entrant or someone in the early stages of their insurance career that is keen to gain and develop their technical expertise quickly. Whilst your career may start in underwriting, Allianz offers a range of career paths covering Technical, Operational and Distribution channels.

**Skills & experience**
- Prior Underwriting experience is not essential but advantageous
- A good level of numerical and verbal reasoning skills
- A sound understanding of the UK general insurance market is desirable
- Practical knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook
- GCSE Maths and English or relevant equivalent experience
- Cert/Dip/ACII or progress towards would be desirable
- Ability to multi task at pace and the ability to work hard on own initiative and be achievement oriented
- Able to organise own workload to meet tight deadlines and support the team and branch in delivering excellent service levels
- A good team player. Supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Able to demonstrate good analytical skills and systems knowledge is desirable
- Resilient and adaptable to change
