We are looking for a Business Support Adviser - Rural Stirling to join us on fixed term basis for 24 months.

Reporting to the Business Support Manager and as an integral member of the business advisory team, this role is responsible for providing business support to rural Stirlingshire which will assist to improve productivity, performance and achieve local business growth potential.

**About STEP**
STEP has been supporting businesses for over three decades. When we started in 1983, we wanted to build more than just an office block, business park or commercial property. We wanted to build a community of businesses where companies could start, grow, and lean on each other in a supportive environment.

Today we support 3,000 businesses on average per year and manage over 200 spaces across five sites.

All our profits are invested back into business support activities and delivering services that have a positive impact on the local economy.

On behalf of the Scottish Government, we deliver the contract for Business Gateway services across Stirling and contract for other public-funded contracts when relevant.

**What you’ll do at STEP**

As a Business Support Adviser you will work closely with business in rural Stirlingshire to assist them in establishing, growing and sustaining themselves by providing tailored business advice and referring them to relevant partners and other relevant sources.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- The provision of business support and advice specifically for the rural business community.
- Build a rural business community network across Stirlingshire to fully support local businesses.
- Promote, engage and work with young people to boost youth entrepreneurships in rural areas.
- Increase support for rural businesses at the various rural hubs by increasing our presence. These areas include Bannockburn, Cowie, Plean, Drymen, Callander, Aberfoyle etc.
- Liaise across each hub to create continuity and a more collaborated approach.
- Organise rural business events such as business networking and training days across all locations throughout the year.
- Refer clients to partner organisations when required and involve relevant partner organisations to provide a holistic service to clients including highlighting the range of training courses and support available via Business Gateway and STEP.
- Stimulate demand and interest in key areas such as Bannockburn, Cowie and Plean to increase engagement through dedicated adviser days, new events and training support.
- Liaise with marketing to create awareness campaigns to instigate increased engagement.
- Utilise social media platforms to raise the profile of STEP and business support in rural areas.
- Learn and operate the CRM system to ensure all activities are captured and updated regularly.
- Work over various locations with rural businesses and be visible in the rural communities
- Attend events in the various locations, which will include evenings and weekends

**Where you’ll work**

This role allows for a blended approach to your working environment. You will be required to work at minimum two days from STEP Stirling Enterprise Park, with other work either at clients premises, business hubs and from home.

Experience Required
- Experience of running a business is desirable. Practical, hands on business experience essential, as is a good awareness of key trends in rural Stirling.
- A wide understanding and knowledge of business start-up/growth/development and business issues in small, medium and large businesses.
- Ability to operate effectively, tactically as well as strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
