An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Care of the Elderly / Stroke Medicine team.

Care of the Elderly / Stroke Medicine is a busy, exciting department constantly developing and improving the service provided to patients. We are looking to engage an experienced Medical Secretary with sound secretarial and excellent typing skills to join our friendly team and take on this busy and varied post.

The successful applicant will become an integral part of the efficient Singleton team providing secretarial support to a number of clinical staff. Please note a change of base may be indicated due to upcoming service changes but successful applicant will be kept updated.

A sound knowledge of medical terminology and experience in the use of hospital IT systems would be an advantage as well as an understanding of patient pathways. It is preferable that applicants have recent previous experience within a comparable role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Provide secretarial support to Consultants within the COTE Department, including all duties associated with the post, typing urgent and non-urgent correspondences, minutes, reports etc.

Provide administrative/secretarial support to the nursing team, Registrars and Junior Doctors where required. Management of peripheral clinics undertaken by the Consultants, ensuring clinics are utilised to their potential, adhering to appropriate timeframes for the cancellation of clinics, ensuring patient appointments are well managed and patients receive appointments in an appropriate timeframe.

Provide effective Consultant diary management, ensuring that all information required by the Consultants is current and accurate. Management of Consultant leave.

Organise and administer meetings within the department to ensure their smooth running, including organisation of meeting location, circulation of papers prior and minute taking as necessary. Assisting with the completion of audits as required, led by the Service Manager/Admin Manager.
