**Job description**:
The Responsible Technology Adoption Unit (RTA), formerly The Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI), leads the UK government's work to enable the trustworthy development and deployment of AI and emerging technologies. We are looking for three Policy Advisors to support the delivery of our programmes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting high quality research - understanding the impacts and risks of data-driven technology including AI, across a range of contexts, using a variety of research and analysis methods, and communicating research insights in compelling and accessible ways.
- Collaborating with partners and convening stakeholders - forming close and productive working relationships with actors across industry, academia, and policy and bringing diverse stakeholders together to investigate complex issues.
- Contributing to the RTA's culture - adding to the life and soul of the RTA, taking time out of day-to-day duties to ensure that the RTA is an inclusive and purposeful place to work.

**Skills and experience**

**Essential requirements**:

- Interest in the impacts and governance of data-driven technologies, including artificial intelligence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - presenting complex information in a clear, effective manner.
- Experience generating insights and advice from a range of sources.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with people in different roles and with varying perspectives.
- Capable of working independently under your own initiative and some knowledge of project management.

**Desirable skills**:
Experience related to data-driven technology and artificial intelligence in at least one of the areas outlined below:

- Policy development or delivery: experience of developing policy recommendations drawing on a range of evidenced options that may be conflicting, or delivering complex policy priorities.
- Law or regulation: experience of working with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., data protection or equality law).
- Data and AI ecosystem: experience of stakeholder coordination in areas related to data or artificial intelligence, ability to convene multi-stakeholder groups and events planning, and understanding of the data and AI landscape.
- Delivery of data-driven technology: experience working in teams delivering data-driven technology, whether in technical or product roles.
