**Hours**: 30 hours a week (normally 9-5, but flexibility required)

**Salary**: £22,387.61 per annum, pro rata (£17,910.08)

**Holidays**: 25 days per year plus 8 public holidays (pro rata)

**Based at**: Riverside, Cardiff

**Job Purpose**:
The role of the social navigator is to provide holistic support for individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds in Cardiff impacted by mental ill health, in order to help them re-integrate into their living environment and community through emotional and social support, whilst accessing community services that can help with social activities or targeted support such as finance, employment, isolation etc.

The post-holder will work across Cardiff to assist individuals in identifying key areas of support e.g., social support, physical health, mental wellbeing, finance, and money consistent with our Recovery Programme. Navigators will then identify suitable remedies to address these issues where the individual lives, this will include liaising with local services both statutory and voluntary as appropriate to ensure the best outcome for the individual.

Navigators will develop a network of support specifically for ethnic minority groups in Cardiff, for individuals to access for their mental wellbeing. Navigators will support vulnerable people to access services through the facilitation of a warm handover, including preliminary support work with the individual to build their confidence and self-esteem while offering practical support.

**Essential Requirements**:

- There are no specific qualifications, however, there must be substantial evidence of commitment to personal and career development relevant to the post.
- Must have robust experience of providing support to individuals with serious mental illness.
- Must have experience of developing and maintaining productive relationships.
- Must have experience of supporting the target service user audience to engage in a variety of educational, community and social activities.
