We are excited to offer a newly developed role within our team.

The Paediatric Psychology Service provides a service to children, young people and their families who are living with a physical health condition and under the care of the Hillingdon Hospital paediatric department.

This job is a Part-time, Fixed-term role that is intended to provide experience towards a career in clinical psychology, and is suitable for graduates with an interest in paediatric populations.

A substantial part of the role is supporting the referrals workflow, coordinating activity, and collecting data, and supporting service development. Opportunities exist for CPD and learning alongside our 2 trainee clinical psychologists and our wider paediatric section.

Wednesdays would be a required work day, the other hours can be arranged to suit the post holder and service needs.

**The main duties of this role are**:
To support clinical and trainee psychologists in line with their job plans which may include screening and establishing group work under the supervision of qualified staff.

To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits and collection of statistics.

To support service development and quality improvement projects within the service.

To support the presentation and delivery of teaching to staff members.

**About Psychology in CNWL**:
Joining our Department

You will join a well-established small friendly team of psychologists working out of our office at Greenacres on the hospital site. In addition the team form part of a larger CNWL paediatric psychology section and you will have the option to join monthly meetings with CPD opportunities.

1. To help with screening and assessing, alongside a qualified clinical psychologist, requests for interventions for individual patients to formulate needs, plan interventions and discharge.

2. To contribute to the development and delivery of relevant communications with patients and families, including psychoeducation packages, as required.

3. To work alongside other team members within the paediatric psychology service and ensure close liaison and communication.

4. To undertake other duties that may be determined within the general scope of the post.

5. To work independently on a day-to-day basis, within the limitations of the post and seek help and advice when appropriate.

6. To maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times, especially when working with distressed people and to be able to tolerate a high degree of emotional intensity, both with service users and within the clinical environment.

7. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner to people accessing the service.

8. To ensure services are delivered appropriately, relevant and respectful of all, recognizing the diversity of ethnicity, culture, belief, privilege and capacity of individuals.

Teaching, Training and Supervision

1. To undertake continuing professional development and participate in appropriate training courses and workshops in accordance with a personal development plan.

2. To attend all relevant mandatory training courses as and when required in accordance with Trust Policies. The post holder must comply with all national, statutory, legislative, professional and local policies.

3. To develop skills and competencies that assist in delivery of current duties.

4. To receive regular supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.

5. To participate in appraisal process.

6. To provide support to new members of staff and to students and trainees.

**Research and Audit**:
1. To support research, quality improvement and service evaluation regarding psychological care within the department alongside colleagues as necessary, including completion of outcome measures, managing databases, preparing reports and carrying out statistical analysis.

2. To undertake service development projects, under the supervision of qualified staff.

3. To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified Clinical Psychologists in evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
