We are looking to recruit an Assistant Professorial Lecturer in Human Geography to join a strong and growing group of human geography, planning and urban studies experts in the Department of Geography and Environment, which is one of the leading geography departments in the world and enjoys very strong international student demand across a wide range of graduate and undergraduate programmes.

This post is on Education Career Track, a new career track LSE introduced for academic staff whose primary responsibility is education. The post-holder is expected to possess expertise in the field of human geography or related discipline to a demonstrably high level and have a PhD in a relevant field (or close to completion by the post start date).

The post-holder is expected to have evidence of a competent track record of teaching, student mentoring and pastoral care. The role anticipates the delivery of excellence in course design, management and quality assurance while fostering positive and inspirational teaching by creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students.

An Assistant Professorial Lecturer in Human Geography will also be expected to contribute to and improve the department’s provision of experiential learning (e.g., field trips and city walks) and research methods training while helping innovate teaching delivery for students pursuing degrees in human geography.

The post-holder is anticipated to contribute to developing an effective learning community in the department, in line with the ambitions outlined in the School’s LSE 2030 strategy, while contributing to programme management and the department’s administrative and collegial activities.
