**Competitive Salary and Benefits**

**Closing date: 21st March 2024**

**Introduction to role**:
Are you ready to lead the transformation of patient care through powerful, innovative NHS partnerships?

AstraZeneca UK is seeking a Head of Medical External Engagement & Innovation to deliver improved patient outcomes at scale through strategic system level partnerships and to lead Primary Care innovation strategy.

**Leading Strategic System Partnerships**

AstraZeneca UK is transforming patient care through powerful, innovative NHS partnerships that seek to achieve our Medical Missions. We seek to extend the impact of system-level strategic partnerships and deliver healthcare innovation into systems at greater scale than ever before.

Reporting directly to the Medical & Scientific Affairs Director, the Head of Medical External Engagement & Innovation will be accountable for the AZ UK medical engagement strategy for major system level NHS partners (ICS and above) to deliver partnerships that will improve patient outcomes at scale.

Through highly visible personal engagement, the individual will deliver AZ medical leadership to shape, operationalize and evidence the impact of collaborative projects that are developed under the umbrella of each strategic partnership. The incumbent will be accountable for ensuring that all projects fully align with AZ UK medical strategy and that internal stakeholders and resources are aligned to support project pull-through. The role will be aligned to the BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit portfolio.

**Leading AZ Primary Care Innovation agenda**

NHS stakeholders recognise that fundamental change to the model of care is required to cope with the increase in prevalence of Long-Term Conditions and increased investment in high tech community services is required to reduce the demand on Secondary Care resources. With a detailed knowledge of Primary Care and a focus on innovation, the incumbent will engage externally to ensure AZ is an active partner on this agenda and will collaborate internally to ensure AstraZeneca Population Health Services are at the ‘cutting edge’ and fully leverage the next wave of innovative Primary Care solutions.

In the course of work on these two core elements of the role, the incumbent will identify innovative partnerships that will expedite future launches of pipeline assets into clinical practice and will be encouraged to develop additional high-impact strategic partnerships.
