**OVERALL ROLE PURPOSE**

The accounts apprentice will be an integral part of the finance team and will be predominantly responsible for providing day-to-day assistance to the Project Accounting and the transactional team ensuring the accurate and efficient maintenance of accounting records.

The role will be varied and will give the accounts apprentice the opportunity to gain experience in areas such as project accounting, management accounting, accounts payable, credit control and cash book maintenance whilst gaining a relevant accounting qualification. This would ideally suit somebody who would like to enroll or is currently enrolled on AAT Certificate in Accounting.

The accounts apprentice will gain a study support package and training contract. J&C Joel has a proven track record in retaining apprentices and providing scope for progression. As a result, whilst the apprentice gains experience and completes relevant qualifications, there will be scope to progress and take on broader accounting duties.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES**
- Maintaining project P&L’s
- Monitor & report on weekly timesheets
- Raising sales invoices
- Collation of daily cashflow summary
- Setting up customer/supplier accounts
- Preparing customer statements to send out
- Processing supplier invoices
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies on supplier accounts
- Daily cash posting
- Ad hoc duties as and when required

- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Efficient time management skills
- Computer literate including MS Excel
