- **T**_he Christie Pathology Partnership_was formed in 2014 and is a joint venture between The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and SYNLAB, the largest provider of laboratory pathology and diagnostic services in Europe. We provide Pathology services for The Christie, the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 44,000 patients a year and recently rated Outstanding by the CQC.

**Role Purpose**:
The purpose of this role is to have an overall responsibility across all departments within CPP for the oversight and planning of training activity. Supporting the strategic vision to achieve the training needs for all scientific, technical and support staff within the organisation. Responsible for overseeing the implementation, development and co-ordination of training processes within CPP and maintaining the CPP training laboratory status across all disciplines.
- Maintain the current level of IBMS training laboratory status for CPP and expand the scope of this as appropriate in line with strategic business objectives.
- Work with the business to determine and prioritise training needs taking into account the skills requirement of the department, the human and financial resources available to deliver training and the development needs of the individuals concerned.
- Work with the business to provide a training delivery plan for CPP to achieve the business and quality objectives and work with local managers to implement training strategies and support in resolving obstacles and conflicting priorities.
- Contribute to the development of competency assessment documents to meet appropriate external accreditation requirements across all business areas.
- Track and monitor competency and statutory/mandatory training compliance across all departments in collaboration with relevant training leads and provide updates at the CPP Training committee.
- To coordinate the departmental leads and Team Managers to ensure consistent delivery of training strategies and programmes.
- To be responsible for the development and maintenance of an overarching training policy that address relevant professional standards and guidelines.
- To represent CPP as the training expert in support of inspections from external organisations such as UKAS, HTA, RCPath, IBMS and visitors to the organisation.
- Facilitate/help with delivery of audit training
- To facilitate the training of IBMS registration portfolios for trainee biomedical scientists with the coordination of required training events and high-level monitoring of performance via training leads.

- Working with the L&D business partner to manage the apprenticeship process within CPP, including promotion of opportunities, selection of relevant applicants, co-ordination of activities and general support of apprentices.
- To co-ordinate the training and monitor progress of staff on specific career pathways.
- To coordinate CPD events across CPP.
- To attend local and CPP training committee meetings to address common training issues and to provide an effective mechanism for the dissemination of training information within the laboratory and between the laboratory and laboratory service users.
- To manage an action tracker for the CPP Training committee.
- As a member of the Synlab UK Training Committee, act as a strategic link between the national group and local management and provide an effective mechanism for the dissemination of training information and project implementation within the UK business.
- To be an advanced user of the SYNLAB Learning Management System and to cascade training in the use of the SYNLAB Learning Management System
- To be responsible for the oversight and development of the CPP elements of the SYNLAB Learning Management
- Share best practice both locally and nationally and strive to collaboratively implement such practices locally, even if contentious.
- Coordinate and participate in the audit of training processes.
- To support training as part of induction of new staff, training leads and other training policies and processes.
- To support HR with the evaluation of training courses, BSc modules, MSc courses for content and appropriateness prior to commissioning.
