**Buyer - Highways**
**Location - Norwich**
**What you will be doing**:
You will be full time on site in Norwich to be responsible for material and plant procurement specifically across our three schemes in the East. The Buyer will be a Procurement presence on site and a point of contact for the Operations and Commercial teams to the function. They must bring energy, enthusiasm, and experience of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Experience working in Highways or Construction is an advantage but not mandatory. An aptitude and willingness to gain product knowledge, learn construction methodologies and explore market innovations is essential. The responsibilities of the role include:
- Day to day procurement of a wide-range of materials and plant reflecting an Infrastructure programme of works of £xx, often in a high-paced and reactive environment.
- Delivering value-for-money across all procurement activities, ensuring timely and professional service for our internal customers.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and constructively challenge requirements to realise efficiencies and reduce waste.
- Supporting the Procurement Manager and wider team with developing our approach to major and strategic materials, e.g. robust tender exercises, qualitative assessments, utilisation of higher value T&Cs e.g. NEC supply agreements.
- Procedural and system compliance, including adherence to Group procurement mandates and interface with our Oracle purchase-to-pay system.
- Checking supplier validity, capacity and competence; measuring and managing performance of strategic material and plant providers.
- Data-input and reporting (including savings) in line with project requirements.
- Supporting wider buying requirements across the Business Unit as required.
- Liaison with internal teams and suppliers to resolve order-matching, invoice/Tradex queries expediently and ensure on-time payments.
- Being an advocate for the procurement function in general, assuring process compliance and seeking opportunities for improvement / innovation as appropriate

Whilst carrying out their role, our Buyers promotes the Infrastructure business unit and overarching company values, developing strong and professional relationships with our supply chain and other key stakeholders externally and across Galliford Try.
