Maternity Rota Coordinator for Students

Work to allocate midwifery students to practice supervisors and practice assessors with the practice education facilitator (PEF) and ensure students are allocated to work with the practice supervisor often, for all areas of clinical placement.
Will work in collaboration with the PEF, universities and maternity rota coordinators for PRH, RSCH, and Community.
Will support the rota coordinators for these areas.
To ensure the 4 week rolling cross site rota for student midwifery staff and midwifery staff is up to date, accurate and disseminated electronically and review the rotas and processes on an ongoing basis. To work closely with the Health Roster team to ensure the appropriate use of the system for ease of access and planning.

Rota Management
- To have responsibility for the maintenance and input to the development of high
- quality, effective and flexible centralised electronic rota management system for student and midwifery staff in W&C Division.
- To have prime responsibility for the production and dissemination of student midwifery and support midwifery/nursery nurse/maternity support workers/maternity care assistant’s rotas.
- To provide placement support for other students within the NHS, such as paramedics.
- To ensure the effective implementation of the centralised and electronic rota management system covering all sites for services working across professional groups to ensure the midwifery group complies with hospital strategies in an efficient and effective way.
- Supporting to continuously monitor cover for all clinical duties for midwifery staff ensuring no clinical shift is left un-covered and to work proactively overcoming complex barriers across disciplines to ensure issues arising are resolved.
- To liaise with the Midwifery Managers and PEF where clinical shifts are not covered and students will not be supported.
- To work in collaboration with the midwifery staff and PEF to ensure that absence records are accurately maintained.
- To ensure a single 4 week rolling cross site rota for midwifery staff is up to date, accurate and disseminated electronically.
- To establish and implement systems for electronically accessing the rota.
- To analyse, investigate and resolve complex queries relating to rota management.
- To troubleshoot any issues with student rota and ensure all essential hours are being rostered.
- To have prime responsibility for the validation of rota and absence management data and to attend meetings as appropriate and pertinent to the role in this regard.
- To monitor all clinical shifts on a daily basis to ensure that all shifts are covered in the eventuality of sickness/careers leave/compassionate leave and that the midwifery student is reallocated a practice supervisor.
People Management and Development
- Work closely with PEF and the management team around informing of absence periods.
- Escalate any requests breaching the relevant policy.
