This post is a six-month secondment covering maternity. It is an ideal opportunity for a strong clinical leader, with the correct skills to undertake.

The role will put your existing skills and knowledge to practice across the Out of Hours service, covering North Staffordshire.

Working collectively with the Operational Lead to ensure a safe, effective, quality service.

To demonstrate compassionate, wise leadership with balance and adaptability.

Providing clinical leadership to the community nursing team. Supporting the District Nurse/senior nurse to ensure safe and effective care for service users.

Managment of complex care cases - including collaboration with other services, prescribing and clinical guidance to the Out of Hours staff.

Upskill and clinical skill management of Out of Hours staff.

To influence and lead change with the use of excellent clinical skills.

To ensure excellent clinical standards amongst all staff.

To act as a role model embedding the Trust Values and Behaviours.

Provide consistency through collaborative clinical leadership to their team with Community Education Leads across the care group. Embedding a learning culture underpinned evidence based practice.

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors ascertained through holistic assessment and history taking.

To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the service’s operational policies; objectives and standards. Utilising research, business intelligence data and audit.

Support and complete investigations and reports including clinical incident management; root cause analysis; coroners’ reports and serious incident investigations. Using clinical experience and judgment to review the findings of these investigations and make recommendations where appropriate. Leading on the development, learning and actions for their team following formal investigations and reports.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of service users on their caseload.

Prioritising competing demands responding to unplanned aspects of the role using innovative problem solving techniques and clinical decision making for example rescheduling or cancelling planned visits to complete urgent visits.

To positively promote and act as a role model for community nursing.
