The post holder will be a member of the Urgent care Crisis resolution home treatment team who looks after children and young people across Birmingham. The post holder will be responsible to lead the over 18 team, (adults) line managing a defined staffing group and hold responsibility for ensuring compliance to statutory training, annual appraisal and staff supervision. They will be required to support the team in developing and building effective communication between community services, wider mental health services and with other local agencies and specialist services.

Referrals to the team are accepted from a wide range of professionals and agencies and the post holder will be responsible for the flow in and out of the team, as well as working with the team's clinical nurse specialist and other multidisciplinary team members to support and manage complex cases.

Families of the referred young people are included in the assessment and on-going management of the cases. This will include the use of a range of approaches e.g. psychodynamic, behavioural, cognitive and psychopharmological, as appropriate, within the overall framework of the multi-disciplinary team.

To demonstrate clear leadership and support the team members and clinicians in providing clinical management and support to develop the care and treatment of people with mental health problems in the community to receive the best possible care, maximising engagement and improving outcomes.

Undertake professional supervision for an agreed number of registered professionals within the urgent care team.

As the senior clinician in the team, working alongside the clinical nurse specialists, ensuring the skill set and expertise of individual clinicians is appropriate to the needs of the young people they support. This will include supervision and appraisals as appropriate, ensuring it is in line with Trust/Directorate standards.

To support with the induction of new starters; including supporting the trust's equality, diversity and inclusion strategy and supporting with staff recruitment, retention and wellbeing.

Demonstrate decision-making and problem solving skills as a senior member of the team.

To take appropriate lead action with regard to complaints and reportable incidents within the service as directed by the Trust’s complaints and reportable incident policies.

To contribute to and lead on the implementation of local and national objectives.
