**Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship - Manchester Communication Academy**

The Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship at Manchester Communication Academy involves supporting the Chief Finance Officer in operational financial planning, ensuring compliance with legislation, and providing financial leadership across the Trust. Responsibilities include preparing management accounts, budgets, and financial statements, monitoring budgets, providing guidance on financial matters to staff, and resolving accounting issues. The role also entails coordinating payroll, insurance claims, and credit control, attending training courses, ensuring confidentiality, reviewing finance processes, presenting financial reports at meetings, and assisting with data collation and benchmarking.

**Key Details**:
**Salary**: £35,727 - £40,012 per year depending on experience.

Working week: Monday to Friday, 30 hours a week, shifts to be confirmed on interview.

Holiday: 20 days holiday
Notice Period: 1 Week notice is required before the probation period is passed and 1 Month notice is required after the probation period is passed.

Apprenticeship Details - 18-24 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3/4 AAT Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).

Training Provider: LMP Education (rated 8th best UK training provider)

**Main Purpose of the Job**:
Supporting the Chief Finance Officer to provide high quality operational financial planning to ensure the MAT makes best possible use of its resources and is able to provide the best outcomes for its pupils. To lead on all matters relating to Finance over both schools in the MAT. To lead in the implementation of finance systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance in all legislation relating to the MAT. To provide effective and efficient financial leadership across Trust School.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Preparation of the monthly management accounts and year end
- To assist with preparation of the draft budget, the annual financial statements and returns to the DfE and ESFA, adhering to reporting deadlines.
- To review, monitor and advise budget holders regarding their budgets
- To provide guidance and awareness of financial matters and responsibilities, procedures and systems to staff, highlighting improper practice and ensuring observance of legal
- To be responsible for, and carry out where appropriate, all accounting procedures and resolve problems, including: the operation of all accounts ensuring monthly reconciliations. ensuring that an asset register is
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for improving value for
- To review monthly payroll for accuracy and ensure all HMRC and pension returns are sent according to
- To coordinate Trust insurance claims monitoring the income due in until the claim settled in full
- To ensure all income due to the Trust is promptly invoiced and manage the procedure for credit control of any outstanding debts
- To attend training courses, relating to the post, particularly in the area of financial
- To observe the principles of confidentiality
- Reviewing the processes of finance staff to ensure compliance and making recommendations for changes to improve processes
- Attend Local governing board meetings to present financial reports
- To assist with benchmarking data for the Trust including key financial and operational indicators
- To manage the collation of data from individual

**Person Specification Required**:
Atleast AAT level 2 and looking to work towards either a 3 or 4.
Ideal if holds previous finance experience
Willing to learn
